Heather Hull, LSW
Greetings, my name is Heather and I am grateful for the opportunity to meet you here at the Mental Wellness Center. I am a licensed social worker passionate about helping clients feel understood, advocated for, and supported in their therapeutic journey.
In addition to being a compassionate mental health provider, I am also a book club member and mom of three girls. Spending time doing things I love like running and listening to music keeps me grounded and rested for my work with clients. To understand more about mental health, I also often attend seminars and presentations to stay well-informed and connected with the field.

I have been drawn to healing professions for as long as I could remember, and was eager to obtain my bachelor’s degree in social work from Olivet Nazarene University, whose program is accredited by the National Association of Social Workers. As part of that program, I spent hundreds of hours training to work with clients experiencing mental health crises in the emergency room. My hope is to provide the same non-judgemental and peaceful environment in our meetings that I learned to encourage in the hospital.
I furthered my training with a Master’s degree in social work from the accredited program at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. There, I honed my skills in therapeutic techniques like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and also spent hours training to provide mental health care to incarcerated individuals. You can expect confidence from me as a therapist that through our therapeutic relationship, I believe healing is possible no matter how large or small your problems may be. I meet clients where they are at and focus on strengths to help you overcome obstacles and achieve goals. Hope is a common thread in my methodology.
Professional Skills & Therapeutic Approach
My therapeutic approach is rooted in unconditional positive regard and the power of the therapeutic relationship. Unconditional positive regard means that I will be looking to see the best in you regardless of what you share or the challenges you face. And regarding the therapeutic relationship, studies have indicated that the connection built between therapist and client can prove to be beneficial in and of itself, regardless of intervention technique. With that in mind, my approach relies heavily on evidence-based practices and collaboration to choose what feels right for you as the focus in our sessions. Social workers like myself are trained to see the client as the expert in their own experience, and you will be given that opportunity to share your expertise with me.
Providing therapy to the community is a great honor that I have long prepared for, and I look forward to starting a therapeutic relationship with you.
