Julie Peloza,LCPC

Hello! I’m happy to welcome you to the Mental Wellness Center as you take this meaningful step toward healing and growth.

My name is Julie and I enjoy working with children, young adults and every age in-between. I provide a safe, inclusive space that affirms LGBTQIA+ identities and neurodiversity, with deep respect for each person’s background and lived experience.

Whether we are addressing overwhelming emotions, unhelpful thought patterns or navigating traumatic experiences, my goal is to help you feel more grounded, confident and empowered during each step of your counseling journey.

I recognize that every individual is unique and I take a personalized approach by working closely with you and/or your child to create a therapy plan that fits your specific strengths and needs.

With kids, I bring plenty of patience, creativity and humor to sessions. With adults, I offer a calming, supportive space where you can dig into what’s going on and make real, lasting changes - without judgment, and at your own pace (and also some humor).

Professional Experience

I hold a Master’s of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. I also received my Bachelor’s of Science degree from Illinois State University and have been a part of the B-N community ever since! I have experience working with diverse populations in a variety of settings, including schools and community mental health.

I currently live in Normal with my spouse and our two cats, Albus and Lilly. In my free time, I enjoy music and concerts, going on walks, playing video games and watching shows.

Professional Skills

I specialize in supporting individuals navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, LGBTQ+ concerns, Autism Spectrum experiences and stress or life transitions. My goal is to create a safe, inclusive and compassionate space where every person feels seen, heard, and understood. In my practice, I utilize evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients explore the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. These methods are designed to promote meaningful change, emotional balance and personal growth.

Additionally, I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based approach that facilitates healing from distressing or traumatic experiences. EMDR can be a deeply transformative process and I am committed to guiding clients through their journey toward recovery and resilience.

In a nutshell, I'm here to offer personalized support for a range of mental health challenges. Let's work together to lean into healing, resilience and personal empowerment.
